I chose Fortis hospital because it was recommended by my relatives in Bangalore and I called to get an appointment with the endocrinologist for my sister. I had no idea that the guy that we were given an appointment would turn out to be an unethical, unqualified Idiot - Somashekar Reddy.
After a long wait we got to see him and the Red Flags started popping out immediately. He was given the current prescriptions that my sister is taking and he didn’t want to look at all her current medication and asked us to point just to the’sugar medication’ that she was taking. He could not spot out the sugar medication from her prescription list! Worst yet, when we told him the names of the medication, he didn’t have the slightest clue and asked me to ask around and find out what was in the sugar medication that my sister was taking.
I could have given him the benefit of the doubt about his lack of idea about the sugar medication(considering that he wasn’t familiar with the brand).
But I got really frustrated when he started with the push for his’own’ personal clinic and why we should come in the same day to see him in his clinic. He said, we should come to his clinic and run some tests. But when I tried showing him the test results - for the same tests that he was asking for - which were done just a week earlier, he refused to even look at them. He insisted that we should come to his clinic and run the tests again.
He had no regard for the hassles that we had to go through to get to Fortis hospital or the cost and other inconveniences. It was blindingly obvious that his idea is to push the patients to his personal clinic where he could pocket even more money and make us do even more tests. So, without any prescription or consultation we were sent our way with clear instructions to come see him in his clinic.
I left Fortis, promising myself that we will never return again and to make sure that I will tell my friends and family to stay away from this establishment. I do understand that Fortis hospital may itself be a victim of Somashekar Reddy, since he peddles business away from the hospital - but as far as I am concerned, I chose to go there because of the supposed reputation of the hospital. If Fortis employs such unethical quacks, then it deserves to be boycotted along with idiots like - Somashekar Reddy.
