A super specialty hospital is approached with an expectation of better standards and a faster recovery. However, a family from Ashok Vihar got the shock of their life when doctors from Fortis Hospital operated on their son’s healthy leg.
According to reports, Ravi Rai(24) year old CA student fractured his leg after he tripped from the stairs. He was rushed to the hospitals where doctors recommended a few orthopedic tests - CT Scan and X-Ray. Doctors informed the family that Mr. Rai had injured his right ankle and a surgery would be required.
It was only after Mr. Rai gained consciousness, that they realised the grave mistake. Doctor’s confusion about the affected leg led to the incident, Ravi alleged.
The family registered an FIR against the hospital for medical negligence.The hospital maintained that the matter is being probed and has released a statement: "Patient safety is of paramount importance to us. We are deeply concerned and are looking into the matter and will take appropriate action as deemed necessary."
