Hi, my visit to Fortis Malar hospital has left me completely distressed by the way our visit was handled.
Surprised that Fortis allows such unprofessional behaviour. Let me explain in detail, making it point-wise for you to understand the chain of events.
Surprisingly, Doctors are excellent but your staff are highly incompetent and have a dictatorial attitude.
The below account will show their
• Unprofessional approach
• Favouritism
• Arrogance
• Incompetence
• Misleading a patient
• I CARE A DAMN ATTITUDE
Patient Name: Shree Charanya Dept: Pulmonology
6th Feb 2023
• Called the Pulmonology department for an appointment with the Doctor. I was told that “all appointments were full” and that I could wait to meet the doctor. When I asked her to double check as “Practo” was showing a slot at 13:50, received a curt response “you can book there if you want”.
This reeked of arrogance
• Booked the 13:50 appointment on Practo, received a confirmation call from Fortis Malar asking me to be available at 13:30 for 13:50 appointment.
• Reached at 13:30, formalities were completed and we were asked to wait. I had mentioned to them that our daughter was very week and had taken IV fluids the day before. I was told that they will follow the appointment schedule as given and will not break it.
This coupled with the speed of the registration process made me very happy.
• The waiting then started and went on and on. One patient who raised his voice was allowed to go in advance to the dismay of the other patient whose turn this favoured patient had taken.
Now I started doubting their professionalism and was disappointed in their “favouring behaviour”.
• When I approached them about the inordinate delay, was told that they were juggling 2 days’ appointments into a single day. Finally met the doctor at 14:30.
The doctor was just great, he asked to get some tests done and meet him between 11:00 to 11:30 the next day with the test results.
• Raised a bill for test results at 14:41 and informed them that I would need an appointment at 11:30 on 7th Feb 2023.
Was told that one of the test results would be ready only by the 7th evening and therefore the appointment for the 7th morning didn’t make sense. I repeated to them that the doctor was very clear about it and asked them to reconfirm with the doctor who said the 8th would be fine if the test results will be delayed.
This kind of service level thrilled me.
Only to be proven wrong the same evening.
• I received the e-report the same evening for “All Tests”.
The kind of ignorance/incompetence amazes me, moreover misguiding us was the pinnacle.
7th Feb 2023
• Went to meet the Doctor at 11:25 and was asked to wait as she was busy and needed to create a revisit bill.
This took a whopping 15 minutes
• We repeated that we need to just show him the report and the Patient was not accompanying us. Was told that will have to wait for some time.
On repeated requests that it was just a case of showing reports, was told that they will strictly follow the appointments order only(which was their scribbles on the back of a used paper which could be altered anytime) was told that we could visit post 4 patients as that was the order.
• When my order came, was shown one more patient who appeared out of nowhere and was told to wait some more time and go after him.
THIS IS SURELY A CASE OF FAVOURISM
• When I told her that I will have to complain, was told “YOU COULD COMPLAIN TO ANYONE, I DON’T CARE”. “Ground floor is where the duty manager is, please go there”
• Took up the matter with the Duty Manager who called the Department In charge who could not do much about it.
I have been to Fortis at Bengaluru and was amazed by their professionalism, here it was just the opposite.
I WILL SURELY NOT VISIT FORTIS MALAR HOSPITAL EVER AFTER AND ADVISE TO ALL MY FRIENDS / ACQUAINTANCES NOT TO VISIT.
