I was in need of a dental checkup and treatment. I did not know a good doctor at and around Marathahalli area. I found that dentists are available at  (A Specialty Clinic), Marathahalli - Fortis Healthcare. Previously had good experience with the doctors at Fortis Banneraghatta road, I thought Fortis will have good doctors at all locations. So I chose Dr. Sanitha  Dhan for my treatment.


She started with my upper tooth on 8th of December 2015 and  I got temporary filling done on 16th of December 2015. She wanted to wait and see for few days if a root canal is needed. I had informed her I will be able to get back only in 2nd week of January 2016. She was ok with that. Then I went back to her in 2nd week of January. She confirmed root canal is needed. She started  with the root canal. She asked me to pay the full amount of 3850 for this root canal treatment. I paid the same on 28th Jan 2016.


She then started filling my other 2 teeth. It took almost 20 days to get my teeth  filled . I got my teeth filled on 9th Feb 2016 and for which I paid 2500.


Final root canal for the upper tooth happened on March 22nd   2016. Almost after 2 month since treatment was started. Fortunately weaken tooth did not fall down ?. Final root canal was done by another doctor called Dr. Chittiappa M.C. After the filling he told me “you can go for cap”. I also asked him


to take a look at the lower tooth. Lower tooth root canal was done by someone else in a different town and cap was not yet given. I was not convinced on the root canal part completion. He took an x-ray , removed the filling and cleaned up some more and did a temporary filling.


After I came out Dr. Sanitha Dhan asked me to make a payment of 13650. 9000 was for the  upper tooth crown and 4650 was for the lower tooth root canal treatment. I did the payment and went to her ask for the crown cutting. Then she told me Dr. Chittiappa is not in town for 15 days, once he available,


she will get back. I left the hospital. However I did not hear from her even after a month. In between the filling done  by Dr. Chittiappa broke and there was cotton inside. I tried calling hospital. Generally they used to revert back, but they did  not. And this lady was not reachable. I did not try again.


I did not want to continue with her. I checked about the cotton part  with  2 other doctors,  they did not have any idea. Hence I planned to change the doctor.


And I went to hospital on 23rd April 2016 and asked refund. Within no time Dr. Sanitha Dhan called me. She started telling doctor will be back on 23rd of April and she assumed I am on vacation. Otherwise she with follow-up with her patients very well etc. etc.  I did not want to discuss anything further, I told her


I want to get the money refunded.


I never told her I will be going on leave, how can she assume and take the things for granted?  I had told her  clearly over the week ends I will not be available. I called the hospital on Monday. When I called hospital staff started telling they cannot refund, rather I can take a health check. This made me very irritated.  I asked them to give  central head  number and spoke to him.  He called me for discussion on Thursday evening with the doctor. In the discussion this doctor started speaking as though she is doing a  favor. And it made me  to get very angry. Finally central head agreed to refund the money for the crown.


Few things about this doctor.

  1. I always preferred and used to take evening appointments that are my office hours. However she cancelled evening appointments number of times. In such cases hospital receptionist used  to call and tell me doctor is not available and doctor only will call  to fix the time.  But doctor never called.

  2. 2 times I visited hospital on my evening appointments, she did not turn up. I had to come back. Worst thing is she does not even take hospital calls.

  3. One time she only send me back saying that material has not come. Other times she used to ask me to come in the noon.  All these shows her attitude toward patients. She does not care about patients time, money  etc. She works only at her convenience.

  4. On the final day of  upper tooth root canal, as usual she wanted to me to come in the noon. I had told her in advance I will be taking ½ day leave for that. Appointment was at 2:00 P.M. Hospital is only 15 minutes away from my home. So morning I was working from home. At 12:00 P.M. she had send a cryptic messages will you be there at 2:2, no name or any other information. I was in official call. So I saw the message  40 minutes later. In that 40 minutes she had sent another message, since you have not turned up I shall move the appointment to next day 2:30.

This made me very angry. I called the hospital and ask them to check with doctor. They could not reach her at all. She did not even pick up my call. However I started to hospital. Finally I had  to remind her I have taken leave only for this purpose and cannot take leave again next day. Then I started back home. I was about to reach home and she is sending me a message “please come”. She does not care about patients time at all.

  1. On 26th of April 2016 when we’re having discussion, she told me she is only doctor who calls up the patient and does follow up. On 22nd March 2016, she did not even pick up  hospital or my call. She got the full payment done for cap and lower tooth root canal. But she was least bother to keep

me updated further. Looks like she does not have many patients. So whoever comes to  her, she catches them by getting them to full payment and make them struggle at her convenience.


If full payment hospital policy, then hospital should have policy for the doctors also to finish the task in a defined time line. For example my upper tooth root canal was started in January 2016 and did not get over even in April 2016. There is no defined time line.  I don’t understand why hospital even keeps such doctors who spoils the hospital reputation. Another strange thing I went and searched in https://fortishealthcare.com/ find doctor, her name or Dr. Chittiappa name is not even listed in the site. I don’t know how is she working here?

  1. When I started discussion about lower tooth root canal reimbursement, she told me re-root canal would have costed us 7000. They  took full payment of 4650 rupees  from me. However they did not worked much on that tooth. When she knew it is her fault and she has taken the full payment for the tooth on which they have not done much, she is trying to increase the charge and trying to confuse me. If the re-RCT would cost 7k, why she did not explain me the cost in the beginning. Was it a hidden agenda to loot the patient and meet her target?

  2. She also told me Dr. Chittiappa is not yet in town, so she did not call up. Dr. Chittiappa also  works at VIMS https://dentalzone.co.in/dr-chittiappa.html I called up VIMS to check if he is visiting there  or not. He was available there. This confirmed clearly she is lying..

Now I am taking treatment from another doctor where I had pay

  1. Separate 900 for filling the upper tooth for which root canal was done by Fortis.  However Fortis doctor made me to take complete payment for the root canal. This became additional cost for me. So it became 3850+900

  2. Lower tooth re-rct has to be done. This would cost me now 4650 +  xxxx (from the other doctor). Here 4650 is the money which this doctor trapped me.

My suggestion is never ever go to this doctor. Otherwise  you may also get trapped like me.
