Forum Mall stands off Elgin Road in Calcutta. Suburbed by a hidden location reachable from AJC Bose Road also by some narrow but motorable lanes. The good things off-sourse are too many to mention. In one word its almost as good as any other malls I have visited. Being resident in other cities for a few years now, seeing malls and multiplexes crop up has been a common experience and picking up generic customer expectations from most other malls in and outside Calcutta, I guess, isnt a punishable crime.
The cost of a two wheeler parking is Rs 10 per hour flat. Even for INOX customer for a 3 hr movie they wont change policies in collecting a sum of 30 rupees. The high cost of this parking is no where close to a good parking. The place provided is highly inadequate for the number of customers visiting the place. I calculated, it is less than 10% of the number of vehicles wanting to visit Forum. 4 wheeler parking is also equally stringent.
Among a pre-concieved notion of a mall is it should have a free parking for genuine customers. What happens in other malls as I have seen is at the billing if you produce your parking pass it is reimbursed if the customer has really paid a high amount for parking. But this doesnt seem to be the case here. For a customer who would watch a movie then have lunch and then watch another movie. A collective sum fo Rs 80-90 would be collected for such a parking, when generally it would have been a flat sum of Rs 10-20 at other malls.
