This is a service centre with attitude. My Fossil watch developed some issue and the technician at the Titan service centre told me to get it serviced at the Fossil service centre.
My first call was nothing short of ridiculous. I was told that the service centre staff is in a meeting and I would have to call back later. What service centre keeps a customer waiting while they have meetings?
My subsequent call was very informative!
Me - "I have a problem with my watch"
FSC - "Sir, come to our centre"
Me - "Where is it"
FSC - "Indira Nagar"
Me - "Where in Indira Nagar"
FSC - "HAL 2nd stage"
and so on till I got an approximate address. What do they think they are that they expect everyone to know their location?
The visit was a profound experience. They took my watch, had it checked and a lady came out asking me how old it was. On hearing it was 4 yrs old, she shaked her head and said that it was high time to get it serviced. I asked her whether Fossil watches stopped working after 4 yrs without service. She was exasperated at my ignorance and told me that my watch would need a battery change and servicing worth Rs 740/- to get it working. I still persisted and asked her several times if a battery change would suffice. Of course she didnt know. So she went back and came up with a smart answer saying that my watch had some issue which increased battery consumption and that would drain my battery faster than normal. To fix it I needed servicing. Beat that! I couldnt. So gave in for a service worth 33% of my watch value.
But that wasnt all. They wanted to keep a watch for 10 days for servicing. Reason? To keep it under observation!
Even a sick patient is discharged faster from a hospital. When I insisted for less they agreed to give it in 7 days. Thanks guys!
Some questions -
1) Why do they have such a snobbish attitude. Fossil isnt a top end brand owned by the richie rich that they act so hard to get.
2) Why is the service so damn expensive. Doesnt mean that if I can afford a Fossil, I can afford exorbitant overheads.
3) Why cant they improve their turn around times. Again trying to be snobbish here.
Sorry its a long post but this pseudo arrogance p me off.
