This has to be my all-time favorite book. I love this book for a variety of reasons, the foremost being I truly believe in the philosophy of objectivism advocated by author Ayn Rand all her life. I think Rand succeeded so tremendously in creating an exciting book with so much meaning and power and that the time she didnt realize it herself. The Fountainheads central character, one Howard Roark, architect, is an extremely self-confident individual whos genius is not recognized by society. He is kicked out of the best architectural school in the country and goes about like a stray dog. He believes that modern architecture is not really architecture, that it is aberrently ugly stuff, and he wanted to change this. He was met with extreme opposition and this book is about how Howard Roark conquered all his enemies and truly changed the world.
