Heavens!....no.the wrong way to start this review..coz the HERO is howard roark.Heavens??!!what are heavens about?not the sweet cloudy dreamy end we all hope for, but a brick building with two straight doors..one ventilator..one cooking gas..a broom to sweep it with..and a big notice in bland straight letters(no curves in writing allowed)announcing THE HEAVEN.This is the vision of howard roark..the architect who chooses to let nothing but the bare necessity rule his designs.Now, hell!(he’d change even the design of the devil’s workshop to an essentially ditto building with a change in name..he’d even build a straight road joining the two buildings..so that we know there aint any difference betwixt heaven n hell!! at least in design of the building..no.a square cell wud do just fine for both purposes). YES! I HATE HOWARD ROARK! HE’S THE SICKEST CREATURE ON EARTH..IF THERE WERE ONE SUCH PERSON I HAD TO KNOW..I’D HURRY TO RUN AWAY...HE TAKES THE FUN OF LIFE AWAY!!! THERE IS BUT ONE HOME A PERSON BUILDS...AND IF HE WANTS IT TO BE BEAUTIFUL, ITS WRONG..COZ WHAT DOES BEAUTY MEAN?TO HIM?NOTHING. HE’;D GIVE YOU AN ESSENTIALLY CUBICAL CELL WITH EIGHT INDISTINGUISHABLE ROOMS(CALL ANY OF ’EM BEDROOM OR TOILET..ITS YOUR CHOICE, FOLKS!) NO...I’LL ADMIT ITS BEEN SOME TIME I READ THIS BOOK..BUT THE HATRED, THE DISGUST REMAINS INTACT...I FELL SICK!NOTHING ELSE! IF IT WERE NOT MY COMPULSIVE HABIT OF SEEING EVERY BOOK TOTHE END, I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO SUFFER THROUGH IT ALL! I LOVED PETER KEATING..HE WAS HUMAN AT LEAST!!!!! I KEPT PITYING HIM THROUGHOUT..COZ I WAS FEELING EXACTLY AS REPULSED BY THE EVENTS AS HIM... ITS A TORTURE! THIS BOOK IS. NOW UNLESS YOU HAPPEN TO LIKE A CHARACTER JUST COZ HE’S DIFFERENT, EVEN IF HE MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE VOMITING, (coz what he does is utterly indigestible), you’d HATE THIS BOOK TOO. AND its not about hating his guts too..i’d rather have my intestines pulled out than have to tolerate his guts coming out from me. i’m really sorry if some ppl feel that I haven’t undersatood this masterpiece..coz I have.Ayn’s previous efforts have not been as hideous.they were EVEN GOOD!BUT I STAND BY WHAT I SAID BEFORE....THIS BOOK STINKS!!!!!!!!!!!!
