While watching movies like Lagaan and Black, I was very impressed and satisfied that we as Bollywood are coming off age and that we mean serious and extremely good cinemas too. But films like Kambakth Ishq, Drona, etc make me think and feel that I watch the films of the same industry that can produce a legend as “Sholay” and sh.. like “Fox”!
After watching couple of Hindi suspense films, it appears that we as industry are very far away from our counter parts in Hollywood. No I don’t want to compare our work with them, but there has to be some benchmark where the hard work + talent + script + director etc make up something reasonable for the viewers. I cant recall any Hindi movie where after watching it I would have said " Wah, kya suspense hai.......zabardast!" But quickly I can say this for Sixth Sense. Again, my dear friends I don’t to ignite a controversy of comparison between two industries, I am just analyzing the standard of cinema as a whole. There are some unbearable movies there and some brilliant ones here too, so NO OFFENSES.
Coming to the point of our new patient - Fox which is dead and ready for the Autopsy and I am Dr. Dinesh who would do it for you :
PLOT : (Suspense not revealed) Arjun Kappor (Arjum Rampal) is a successful criminal lawyer and he is only concerned with the WIN of his client whether he/she is innocent or guilty. This winning spree is once struck, when one of his clients Raj Thakur (Vipul Gupta) - a business tycoon is held for raping and killing one of his employees. As usual Arjun defends his client in such a way that Raj Thakur is all set to win. The parents of the employee cursed and abused Arjun for the injustice that has happened to their daughter. With all this Emotional Atyachaar, Arjun Saab ko zameer ka dhakka lagata hai and he turns his back to the lawyer profession and sets for Goa - for a break! (just to puke his guilty feeling)
Mr. Kapoor is enjoying his life on the streets of Goa and one day he met with an old man who gave him his manuscript to read. The next day when Arjun came back to return the script he finds the old man to be no more….. (Secret) Arjun reluctantly agrees to publish the book in his own name (it was the old man’s dream to publish it) and deliberately conceals the reality. The novel becomes the bestseller in no time and life appears to be more promising. But, here enters Sunny Deol - Deshmukh and puts Arjun behind bars for charges of murders of 5 lawyers! (Secret) So what went that terribly wrong that Arjun is one of the convict and appearing himself as a criminal? So, now will the lawyer be able to prove his innocence or will he succumb to it? Or will find the actual killer is what you see in the next half...
Till now you would get an impression that the plot is good enough to be seen, but hey!!! hold on........ from here on the standard and focus of the movie falls, and it falls so low that I don’t even want you to read it! I am dam sure that if any police officer would see this flick, then he would die of laughter. And why not after seeing such a mockery on part of police - Just NONSENSE! Just imagine that the convict and the police officer who is investigating the case are traveling to Mumbai from Goa to search for some evidences - All alone with no Hatkadis or security of the person who is charged for 5 murders! Bas aishe hi Ghum rahein hain idhar udar! What Crap. Again, meanwhile the convict is allowed to stay with Mr. Deshmukh at his official residence on the officer’s risk without any security???? I don’t know the exact expression on such scenes - whether to laugh or to crib over it……..aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh
In that sense "Phoonk" was a better film since at least you can laugh on the scary scenes. But not on this one - At all.
There are so many loopholes in the story that you might like to throw a shoe on the screen. But don’t throw it since this flick is not even worth that. The major culprit here is the story itself. There is no control on the overall plot and it was stretched to the heights of hypocrisy. The ground realities were thrown out of the window all the way. Not sure in what mood was Deepak Tijori when he was making this film. The concept was good but the execution failed miserably.
Arjun Rampal has done his bit to survive the script but I sensed that he too was getting bored or somehow feeling uneasy with all the stuff. Sagarika Ghatge has done pretty well in the film but has to improve a lot. Her voice was dubbed by Mona Shetty . Mona Shetty is the same girl that dubbed for Amisha Patel in Kaho Na Pyaar Hai and Bips in Raaz. Udita Goswami is as boring as usual and I hope she will improve till 2020. Rest everything is cow du.g and seriously beyond Crocin to cure.
I am sorry to write a review on this one. Because my sincere intension was to spare you from Deepak Tijoris Fox.
Final Verdict : THIS FOX IS A GOAT............
VERY STRONLGY NOT RECOMENDED
