After giving it a lot of thought, I went in for a No Scalpel Vasectomy and chose FPAI after reading a favorable review on Mouthshut.com about FPAI, Hyd. I called up the centre and the centre head Ms. Rekha gave me comprehensive information about the procedure. They have surgeons coming in only on Tuesdays and Thursdays for this procedure.
I was also given the contact number of the surgeon so that I could speak with him to clarify any doubts I might have. I was asked to come to the FPAI centre by 10 am and I chose a Thursday so that I could rest on Friday and over the weekend and go back to work on Monday.
When I reached the centre, I was asked to undergo certain blood and urine tests at a very nominal fee(since it is an NGO). I then waited for the report and for the surgeon to arrive. Once the surgeon arrived, it took about 20 min in all.
The ONLY painful part of the procedure was a poke in the sack to administer the local anesthetic. After that I could feel some tugging and pulling but it was absolutely painless. I was asked to rest for 20 min after the procedure. After 20 min, I was examined by the surgeon and was asked to go home.
I left in a taxi and reached home. The most important thing to do after the procedure is to stay off your feet for the first 48hrs. This is very important. For the first month, it is advisable not to ride a bike. After a week or so, I did not feel sore and was back to normal.
At FPAI, I wasnt charged for the procedure but was offered an incentive, which I was told, the Govt. gives. I felt it only fair that I donate that money to FPAI for the selfless service they were providing.
