Firstly I would like to inform that I have graduated from this notorious college in 2001. I dont give any credit to this college for education, other than helping me in multi-tasking. I give great credit to the college for the friends I made and the time I spent with them during my 4 years of degree education.
The Shocking News:
When we joined this insitiute, we were shocked by the discipline of assembly and that too forced assembly. Assembly would start by 8.30 and if we were there by 8.35 we were treated as misfits. The notorious idea of the principal Mr. Rollen Fernandes to hide behind the trees and catch students walking in 5 mins late and collect ball-point pens or anything that would fill up his pockets for his personal stationery needs was completely and undoubtedly a sign of a frustrated, underprivileged and deprived human. This was his way of punishment. Ofcourse he resorted to I.D CARDS later without which you cannot do anything in this college.
The Chairman, Mr. Orlando (wouldnt want to call him Father), because he never had value for the young minds open for education and never valued their thirst for knowledge. His idea was that of pure torturous discipline. Instead of researching engineering topics, one would think of ways of not getting into his books and near him. He would walk around with a stick ready to beat up any student standing in line during assembly shaking his head. One would wonder, how can one learn in this environment where fear is set into these young minds.
The Faculty:
The biggest joke of the college - the faculty. One would expect qualified, educated and experienced teachers to form a faculty, but they lacked - they had almost zero experience and extremely poor communication skills. The english language was poor and the knowledge was completely bookish. Their aim was to finish the syllabus on time anywhere and anyhow. No interaction required with the students, there was no need for them to know if the students learned anything. The environment was such that if you have the guts then raise a doubt. And if you did, you are in for some embarrassment. "Meet me in the department" is what they would say.
The Lab:
The lab assistants was more worried about his instruments rather than helping the students with their experiments. The labs were well equipped, but again lacked experienced teachers.
The Canteen:
I never visited the canteen, cause it sucked.
I forgot to mention that we were not allowed to go out of the campus during the breaks. Once you enter those gates boss, you can go out only when they let you.
University area, space, buildings, labs are excellent - but there is something seriously wrong in the ideology and philosophies of the Management.
