Yeah Like Whatever

Anna and Tess are mother and daughter and they have the perennial family struggles. Anna feels that her mother is ’’ruining her life’’ and Tess just wants Anna to grow up.

To celebrate Tess’s forthcoming marriage, they go to a local chinese where they are given fortune cookies which results in them waking up to find they have swapped each others bodies.

The proverbial really hits the fan as both of them now have to live each others lives until they can find a way to get back to literally being themselves again. Do they do it? Well you will have to see the movie. Made by Disney this is an update of the 80’s version of Freaky Friday and has been remade with Jamie Lee Curtis (of Halloween fame) and Lyndsay Lohan (New teen queen on the block).

As a no brainer comedy for a quiet evening in it works surprisingly well. Both actresses do really well at living each others lives and show a pretty good sense of comic timing. Jamie Lee Curtis probably gets to have the most fun at acting as a 16 year old with all the ’’like whatever’’, ’’yeugh hes so gross’’ and other teen phrases that she gets to throw around.

It is a pretty predictable film especially if you have seen others in this genre which there were several made in the 80s. This would probably most be enjoyed by girls in their teens, and then by older women. It is not a blokes film.

It is perfect family viewing as it has enough in it to entertain older people and yet contains no foul language or blatant displays of vulgarity. I saw the DVD and it also came with some out takes and alternative endings. It is well worth a view if you are looking for a family entertainer.
