I first tasted French Market Coffee, when I was in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. I bought back a few 16 oz. bags, and every time I have a friend going there, I ask them to buy me a bag.
The Formula:
The way they blend this coffee, is a secret recipe, that the Cajuns, (French Canadians who were force to leave Canada, and settled in the Louisiana). They wouldnt even tell a fellow Canadian how they made it.
The Bag
The coffee comes in a can or a bag. I always buy a bag, because its lighter to take home.
The bag is vacuum sealed to insure that the flavour says in it, after you open it.
It is a red bag, that has an oval on it that says French Market. Inside the oval is a picture of a farm.
The Coffee:
As soon as you open the bag you can smell the coffee, (in fact you will smell it all day). It is a blend of dark roasted coffee beans, and chicory.
The moment you taste it you will know this is not like any other coffee you have tasted. The chicory adds a different flavour.
Drinking a lot of coffee is not good for you, so I only have 1 or 2 cups in the morning, (when I drink other coffee). When I drink French Blend, I only need 1 cup.
I always drink coffee black, (no cream, milk or sugar), but I find I need to add some skim milk, (cream would be better, if youre not fat), because this coffee is so strong.
This coffee also makes a delicious iced coffee. You let the coffee cool down, and pour it over a glass of ice.
They do make decaffeinated coffee, but I never drink decaffeinated coffee.
How I Make This Coffee:
I put some boiling hot water into a Coffee Press, and put ½ teaspoon of coffee per person, into the filter, (on the top on the Press). I press down on the handle, and wait about 5 minutes, until the coffee is brewed. I wash my hands and face, and brush my teeth while Im waiting.
I bet youre asking why dont I just brew it in my coffee maker! A Coffee Press, takes away the oils and acids, that you find in coffee that is make in a coffee pot.
This Coffee Is Healthy:
Studies show that chicory reduces cholesterol, lowers your blood sugar, helps people who have diabetics, and helps stop the tremors with people who have diseases, like MS.
Where can you buy it?:
I have only seen it sold in Grocery Markets, in Louisiana, but I did a Goggle search, and if you buy on-line the link is:

My Conclusion:
I enjoy drinking French Market Coffee, as a Sunday treat. If you havent tried it, I hope you will.
I payed $5.00 USD, for each bag. The cans cost over $7.00 USD.
