Foodie in me is alive again! And here I am, hopefully, with a sumptuous review!
Hubby dearest was hounding me about going to Friends. He didn’t remember where it was, but he had never been able to forget the taste. I was not sooo enthu ‘coz I wasn’t so sure what the place was gonna be like.
But one day, as always, we were out on a hunt “Aaj toh dhoond ke hi rahenge!” After some chakkars in Koramangala, I heard Friends!!!! with as much élan as Eureka! (A l’il more maybe, considering the number of exclamation marks!)
The place as such didn’t really make an impact immediately. It had a simple board that said Friends Fast Food. It’s a small place, with well-maintained seating arrangement, with wooden chairs and clean tables. They play nice music that isn’t too loud to talk and popular English numbers are usually on.
As soon as we were seated, a menu card was presented to us, two clean glasses of water were up next. As I looked at the menu and my dil went hmmmm, hmmmm, hmmmm! Everything sounded yummy and I wanted to try almost everything! As always…
So, we started with soup and ordered interesting looking thing called Mexican Pot (N.Veg), which had boiled chicken, salami, sausage, the works. Even sharing it Indian Ishtyle, By 2, the quantity was just enough. The flavour was very different and it was loaded with chicken! And all that for just 45bucks!
Along with the soup, we had ordered Chicken Fritters that came looking just the way they looked in the menu, or even better. All slender and golden brown. There were me thinks around six of em, after which we didn’t have too much space for the main course!
So, don’t order the main course right at the beginning if you gonna indulge in soups and starters. They have great salads too! The next time we went we had the Friends Special Salad, which had pineapple and chicken with Thousand Island dressing. Purrfect is what I call it! And you know the great thing; the soups and salads are served with not so small portion of Garlic Bread! Not bad, huh?
For the main course you have a choice of pasta, baked dishes and the popular Hot Pots which are basically gravies served with rice, mashed potatoes or French fries. We have tried the Veg and chicken hot-pot, neither of which disappointed us. We also tried some other chicken dish was equally good.
The cool thing about the food here is that every dish has a distinct flavour. I mean one chicken type tastes completely different from the other. They have a selection of sandwiches and burger which I am yet to try. The menu also boasts of Chinese food that I haven’t ventured into either. But me thinks nothing there will disappoint me. The desserts are also there, sundaes and mousse… the usual! Par corner house being right around the corner, we usually go there to pamper our sweet tooth!
All in all a decent, fulfilling meal will cost you around 100-bucks/person. The service is extremely efficient and quick. It’s a great place for couples and friends to just hangout. Families also come, but it’s just a very informal kind of dine out place. They do deliver in the area and Koramangala guys can try that too. The choice for non-veggies is more! But whateva is available for veggies is great! Toh bura mat maano!
Its walking distance from Forum and YET in all probability you will get place to sit easily, which is no mean feat!
So all ye food lovers who love their conti food in its most basic form, lets be Friends!!
Cheers!
