I am going to give my experience with both top and front loaders. After doing a ton of research, I bought a front loader (top of the line). I have 4 children and do laundry every single day. I had a top loader and wanted to buy a front loader because in my research they were able to do bigger loads and clean them better and lets not forget, energy efficient. PERFECT! So I thought. I have 2 laundry rooms in my house. In my main laundry room is my front loader and in my 2nd laundry room is my old top loader. For about 1 year I was extremely happy with my front loader. Until....my 6 year old had the stomach flu and had an accident. She was embarrassed and hid her underpants under her bed.
Needless to say, I found them about 1 week later. YUK!!! I threw them in my front loader with a normal size load and when I was removing everything to place into the dryer, I notice her underpants looked as if I didnt even wash them. They were wet, but definitely not clean. So, I unloaded 1/2 of the clothes thinkingI overloaded the machine. I washed them again and guess what, yep still dirty. I then proceeded to presoak and wash again and they were still dirty. I was absolutely disgusted. I then took the same load down to my 2nd laundry room with my top loader, washed them again in a normal cycle and they came our perfectly clean. If it wasnt for a dirty pair of underpants, I would be one of the PRO FRONT LOADER people. I am selling my front loader and buying another top loader.
My priority in my washing machine is CLEAN CLOTHES. I dont necessarily care about efficiency, silence and a million cycle selections. What will I miss about my front loader...the Sanitary Cylce. Great for towels.
