For fifteen years I had a top loading Maytag. It cleaned everything. When it finally said goodbye after three children, two dogs, and a cat, I purchased a front loading Neptune. I have two boys who play sports and play outdoors, ride dirt bikes, build with tools, play in the lake, etc. I immediately noticed I could no longer get their socks clean.
They would be less dirty after washing - but not white as with my old washer. So, I gave away my Neptune and bought a top of the line Bosch front loader. Same story. Just more expensive to get dirty socks. Also after my son rode his dirtbike, I put his jeans through the wash three times and still did not get out the dirt and mud stains. I dont care how much the machine costs or how much energy it uses - I want clean clothes. I will be buying a new top loader asap.
