Fukrey Review - There are three things that a gambler should know well 1. The rules of the game 2. The Stakes and 3. The time to quit and if you mess up with any one of these you will end up like the Fukreys. The producers of the movie know these roles really well and this gamble will work for them as it is an entertaining ride but not without glitches.
The plot revolves around four fukreys (of no good people) - Hunny (Pulkit Samrat), Choocha (Varun Sharma), Lali( Manjeet Singh) and Zafar (Ali Faisal). While Hunny ans Choocha are on a mission to enter the best college for wooing girls, Lali and Zafar are chasing their own dreams. And like paakka fukreys the way choose to do this is by trying their luck to win a state lottery albeit in the most twisted way possible and with them is a twisted female gangster high on testosterone who no one will dare to mess with. Their hilarious escapades to fulfill their dreams form the crux of the story.
The plot easily connects with the masses as we have a lot of such fukreys around. It relates to Farhan Akthar movies like Dil Chahta Hai and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and also has a flavours of 3 Idiots and Dehli Belly . The pace of the plot though can wear some people out but the movie is rich in comedy and thus entertaining. The movie catches the fantasies of todays youth us hooked throughout the length of the movie, The movie shows to what extent youngsters today go to fulfill their fantasies without thinking of the repercussions.
The four leads of the movie have done a fantastic job and relatively unknown cast of the movie manages to pull off a heist. Though I was satisfied overall, there was a tinge of disappointment due to the fact that the plot did not offer anything substantial to the female leads its Pulkit who dons his role the best while newcomer. Varun has made a fantastic start to his career. Others have been equally good. The four leads as a unit stand out from the rest of the cast. Their comic timing has been spot on. Richa Chaddha manages to get the better of the female roles and shines in what little she has been offered. Given her talent, she deserved much more than this Priya Anand and Vishakha Singh end up being by standers.
The direction, has the taste of Delhi Belly. The movie has caught the essence of Delhi in their laundas very well. But the lack of experience of Mrighdeep Singh Lamba is clearly visible as some scenes could have clearly been avoided. Had it been shorter by 20 minutes I would have rated this movie 4 stars. The Dialogues were amusing and hilarious.
The songs of the movie catch the flavour very well. ambarasariya and Jugaad Karle stands out. But no chart busters here. Ram Sampat has done better works than this.
Overall this movie is joyride and a long one at that. What makes it even more enticing to watch one the relatively unknown actors. A must watch I would say "So take your time out time weekend for these fukreys".
