Semi -automatic washing machine

We purchased a semi auto matic washing machine of a reputed brand 15 years back

At that time there were many fully automatic washing machines available to choose from and were quite expensive as well

We settled for a semi automatic one which we thought will suit our pocket and serve our purpose as well

Water consumption and Power are the 2 major factors in deciding to go in for semi or fully automatic

Though those who lead a busy lifestyle will argue that a fully automatic one is much better

and everthing operates at feather touch controls,

they probably don’t realise that it just guzzles water a lot

In a semi automatic though a lot of manual intervention is necessary one can re-use water for 2-3 wash cycles before rinsing and spin dry the clothes

just last year we had to get the lint filter changed as the old one had torn due to wear and tear

When the mechanic came to our house, I casually asked him whether it I time to go in for a fully automatic one .

He replied " The heart of a fully automatic model is it’s electronic operating panel

Even if one control goes out of order you will have to replace full panel which will leave you pooer by Rs 5000-7000

and more often than not , it happens only after the warranty period is over

So use this semi automatic as long it works "

so again I asked him how much longer I can expect this to work

He said atleast for a couple of years more

So I dropped the idea of going for a fully automatic model

and decided to buy it only when the current one outlives it’s utility
