There was something funny about the movie

Was there something funny about the movie??? I still don’t know….But there was certainly something which made me stick till the end. The movie’s story was, as expected, a complete nonsense. Probably that has a role in making this movie funny. The three stars (read dumbs) of the movie travel beyond timelines into 10th century and create pandemonium there. Otherwise also they were doing the same in 21st century. So really doesn’t make much of difference. Movie’s storyline got quite weak and boring for good part of second half.

Star attraction of the movie undoubtedly was Paresh Rawal. The other two stars are new but acted quite ok. Supporting cast, including Gulshan Grover, Aashish Vidyarthi and Kader Khan was also impressive. I don’t laugh much so I didn’t, but I saw other people getting into burst of laughter, so am assuming that there must have been enough funny substance on the acting front. Words of caution – the three females are not good looking enough to deserve a dekho.

However, the things which made me laugh were a few really funny moments in the movie. To name a few:

1   Choron Ka Adda – This was an exaggeration to its extreme. There was a thieves’ den, in which everyone wore a very predictable stripes t–shirts and acted in predictably similar manner. This was quite hilarious.

2   Kader Khan’s repeated and failed attempts to break the War of time. This is the same wall, through which, the three stars entered the 10th century. His methods were quite innovative and funny at the same time

3   The three star’s encounters with Chindi Chor i.e. Gulshan Grover. It was almost like a cakewalk for Gulshan Grover to make fool of the newcomers.

4   Paresh Rawal’s innocently funny comments at time to time. He seems to have mastered this art. This is something all will like.

There are not many good funny movies around, except may be Munna Bhai MBBS (I have not seen it), so it’s not that bad a choice. My benchmark in Hindi comedy is “Jaane Bhi Do Yaroon”. The movie is nowhere compared to it. Paresh Rawal has not been able to recreate the magic of Hera Feri, Awaara Pagal Diwana or Hungama. So the movie is not comparable to the above three either. But certainly can be seen if you have still not stopped crying after KHNH.
