I had taken a European Travel Insurance from Future Generali. When I bought this insurance I was not told about any claim procedure. After coming back from the trip I had to file claim for 1. Baggage Delay and 2. Trip Delay. After calling the customer care and the claims department I got an idea about the proceedure and hence I applied for the same. One month later after no communication about the status of my claim I called their Mumbai office to learn about the status and to my surprise the executive brought to my knowledge that my application for the claim was declined and the reply was posted to me which I have not recieved till now. I feel cheated and mislead by the company. After being in dark for a month they didnt even bother to send an email about the status. Is that the way corporate works? The status of my claim as I learnt from the executive are as follows:
- Baggage Delay ( Declined) but no formal communication recieved
I Had submited all the documents as desired by an email from the claims dept. of the company. I sent the documents. Then they started asking for more documents like original bills of the things I bought while my luggage was delayed. I was initally not made aware of the documentation required for this claim. Since europe was an expensive place therefore I bought things from the market on the streets and like anywhere in the world I never got a reciept for it. I had to buy things like winter jacket, undergarments, toiletteries and T shirt. I informed them about the same. One month later they didnt even bother to inform about status and simply declined the claim. Its absoulte unjust and cheating.
- Trip Delay no commuication recieved about it yet (more than 30 days since application)
I dont think they are taking my application seriously. I started taking legal advice for the claim and have been advised that I am entitled to my claim amount.
The people handling the claim do not intend to settle the claim. They are just trying to tire me with the lenghty proceedure. They are trying to cheat many people not just by selling travel but also general insurance. These guys have no proffesional ethic. They would give you illogical reasons for the proceedure to frustrate you.
