Gangajal has same old story of Corruption in Bihar but Ajay’s Performance & Jha’s realistic approach makes it different.
The Plot
The film deals with the struggle of an honest cop against the corrupt political system in bihar.
The Cast
Ajay devgun comes out with a splendid performance as tough cop which is one of his best roles till date.
Mukesh Tiwari excels in the role of Bacha Yadav
Mohan Joshi, yashpal Sharma & Ayub Khan & rest of the cast supports well
Gracy singh dosen’t get much scope to perform.
The Crew.
Gangajal excels in the technical aspects of Cinematography, Background Score and Action. Editing is sour towards the end. Art direction is commendable.
The Director
Prakash Jha the author, director has treated this cop saga with some real life incidents to give the film a realistic look. The First half of the film is executed superbly. The flaws lies in the later part of the film with an un appealing item number and a dragging climax. Also Gracy singhs role doesn’t create any impact. Gangajal reminds you of Jha’s “Mrithyudand” in several scenes.
Overall
Gangajal is worth a watch for people who had loved watching films like Shool, Bandit Queen, Mrithyudand & so on. Ajay devgun’s performance adds more punch to it.
