I have heared a lot of things about Gangotri and treks of Gangotri but after visiting here and by comparing it to other hill stations I am disappointed.
In the terms of food and Presentation this place really sucks because you have very limited optiona to eat and also very poor quality of food at the cost of very high amount, i.e. two paranthas and dahi for 220 bucks.
In the matter of ambience and decor, this place disappoints the most. This is very uncomfortable place with the atmosphere not suitable to most of the people, the localites are also not supportive.
In terms of Standard and service, you can find nothing here. In winter you have to do really hard work in that adverse climate to get hot water.
In terms of Accesibility , although the main shrine is on walking distance of the car/bus parking but the roads are in very poor condition. You have to face the landslides, broken roads, news of accidents etc.
In terms of local sightseeing , you can find many things to see. The main shrine is beautiful, river bhagirathi gives pleasure to eyes and beautiful trek to Gomukh is also there, you also see the gardens of apple trees in Harsil.
In terms of Hotels, you can only find cheap qualities hotels here.Hotels are also not as per the standard, staff and local police is not supportive. Hotel rooms are not comfortable also.
The safety issue is the major point which disappoints me about the place.You have to hear a huge risk there.Police is also very irresponsible there. The looting incidents are common.
Overall, a place where you pays a lot but get very very small.
