I admit, this is not the best movie Ive ever seen, but as a lazy Sunday afternoon option when you need a good pick me up, Garam Masala is an excellent choice.
The two lead actors (Akshay Kumar and John Abraham) play two fashion photographers on the beautiful island of Mauritius, who as it seems are far better at chasing skirts than their profession. In fact, Mac (Kumar) is so sure hes Gods gift that he chasing many girls while at the same time he has a beautiful fiancee, Anjali (Rimmi Sen) who he almost completely ignores. When he does see her, hes busy some story or the other to cover his philandering ways. His friend, Babban (Rajpal Yadav - this guys a complete laugh) has to help him cover his cheating behind.
Sam (Abraham) is Macs assistant who envies his way with the ladies, but is no slouch in that department himself. He wins the affections of Maggi (Neha Dhupia) hands down over Mac who treats Sam badly. Sams gets his revenge when he wins an international award, which garners the magazine they work for international exposure and their boss makes Sam the senior photographer leaving Mac as his assistant. Obviously Sam cheated, but thats of little consequence.
As part of his prize, Sam gets a trip to America. Naturally, Macs ego is bruised. then his boss comes up with an idea that will take his mind off the fact that he is now Sams junior.
Before you know it, Mac is doing what he does best - wooing women - this time hes entertaining three lovely air hostesses in a luxury apartment. In no time, Mac has Pooja (Nargis), Sweety (Nitu) and Deepti (Daisy) eating out of his palm and all three become his fiancee. The arrangement is held together with the help of Babban and Mambo (Paresh Rawal), the irritable cook who spits fire at almost anyone.
Things work out well until changing flight tables and the arrival of Sam come up. As can be expected, things get hectic. Oh yes, Sam and one of the ladies fall in love...
Anyway, its good clean fun. Everybodys performance are good except the three air hostesses. All they have to do is look good, but nevertheless, I liked it.
The music - I loved it especially Ada, Chori, Dil Samander. The Mauritian setting is breathtaking.
