Garnier 'Light Eye Roll-On' review

One of the most unique innovations from L’oreal laboratories, which many other beauty & skincare companies have tried to recreate; Garnier Light’s eye roll-on took the world by storm when it first came out in the market. According to the claims on Garnier’s website, proven results include: "immediate cooling effect to decongest puffy eyes, skin looks brighter and more radiant & eye puffiness and dark circles are reduced.". Does this product really live up to its tall claims? Only one way to find out........

The first issue I have with this roll-on is the packaging. It is a tiny problem, but for the sake of getting it out there; the outer packaging is waaay too much and isn’t required at all for this kind of product. The eye roll-on itself is shaped like a bulbous little pen which can be kept out in the open; similar to lipsticks where outer boxes aren’t needed. The pen itself contains 15 ml of the so-called ’miracle liquid’. Unfortunately no instructions are given on the package (see, I informed you that the outer casing is of no use) as to how to use the product. Sliding the eye-pen around one’s eye socket lets out excess liquid and only creates a mess. Fortunately, Garnier’s webpage and a few other Asian sites inform about the methods of usage, which help avoid overfill of the product.

The product does do what it claims- puffiness around the eyes reduces within three weeks. The roll-on helps in attaining a ’massage-like effect’ which drains out excess fluid from eye sockets. The ’pen’ however doesn’t deliver quick results, and although it combats puffiness; dark circles are another story. I’m one among the unfortunate-few who has to live with ’panda rings’ under their eyes. When I reached the end of the roll-on, my dark circles had definitely changed in colouration, but unfortunately they were still very visible. This noticeable change in hue was observed only after about a month of using the product. It is easily purchasable, priced at around Rs.200, which doesn’t hurt your wallet much.

Final grade- B+; I definitely recommend it over other much pricier (and not to mention, much duped) department store versions.
