Hostelite's day off

This is actually a low budget restaurant, that would pass of as average at best in places like Delhi. But in Punjabi food deficient Baroda this used to be the place we went to when we were tired of the Kadhi and Aloo Sabji in hostel mess. Of course the rates fitted our small pockets well.

I used to love their Baigan bharta and hot tandoori rotis (all with coal powder from the tandoor sticking to it and giving a smoky flavor). I used to also love the way they used to grate a little cheese on top of all their preparations. This is a pure veg place. I still remember this solitary but highly efficient waiter in there. He used to shout orders to the cook right from next to your table.

This is a very useful place if you are short of time and nearabouts Baroda Rail station. Avoid the railway canteen on the first floor of the station by all means!

Other recommended dishes to go with your tandoori rotis are muttar paneer and mixed veg. And of course lots of sliced onions soaked in lime juice.

BTW, I was there more than 9 years back, so check on the latest before U go.
