What is Hard disk drive?
Hard disk drive is a data storage device with the help of thin magnetizing film of ferromagnetic material on the disk.
that’s called head.the non magnetic material of disk is called Platters.
hard disk is a secondary storage device for computers. main purpose of hard disk in computer is store a Operating system file and personal data storing.
the hard disk data is stored in a series of logical blocks.the process of initialize these logical blocks on the physical disk platter its called low-level formatting.
high level formatting write data structures used by operating system(OS) to organize data files on the disk.
The heads and platters are rotating by dc motors for read and write the data from disks.
Platters and heads quantity is increased based on Hard disk drive capacity(500 GB, 1 TB, 2 TB).
Hard disks are needed Power and data transferring cables.
Data transfer has type
1 IDE
2 SATA
IDE hard disks are low capacity and data transfer rate is low.
SATA(Serial ATA) Having high speed data transfer and high capacity.
now currently running SATA Type hard disk only .
The new model and NEW type of HDD available now in markets. its SSD(Solid state Drive).
SSD drvies are having SATA type only But this type of drives are not having Platters(disk) and heads.
SSDs are made digital PCB board circuit storage ICS like pen drives.its high speed booting and data transfer rate also very high compare with Hard disk drive(sata).
draw back of the SSD is that price also Very high.
ex:
1tb SATA hdd cost-4500RS but 128 GB SSD cost=6000 RS.
