Once a friend of mine remarked dreamily that his girlfriend looks most beautiful just one minute after she wakes up, with tousled hair, glowing skin, sleepy eyes, husky voice and NO MAKEUP!
That set me thinking and wondering what the fuss about the millions of beauty products was all about. I think that every woman is beautiful. And I know that most people feel otherwise. There are strict standards of beauty just like there are strict standards of everything else in this world. For example, fairness in this country is considered to be the prime requirement if you want to be even remotely beautiful. Hence, the swindlers who are making the so called ‘fairness creams’ are laughing all the way to the bank. Women are liberally rubbing fairness creams day and night and slapping on oodles of gloopy foundation on their faces.
Lemme put it in the most honest and straight forward way: An over made up face looks gross. Make up is supposed to highlight your best features. That’s all. Hence, it should be used as a tool to enhance your naturally beautiful face. Here are my safe make up tips which I am sure will make you look gorgeous and not a painted doll:
-
1. Face Wash(Squeaky clean)
Wash your face with any good face wash(My favorite is the Lakme Strawberry Silk Face Wash), cleanse and moisturize it before putting any make up on your face.
2. Compact powder(You Glow Girl)
I absolutely detest heavy foundation since I feel it strips the innocence off your face instantly. Just a light compact powder works wonders since it evens out the face tone and gives a smooth matte effect. Make sure that you blend it in your skin as smoothly as you can.
3. Lipstick(Lips that tell a story)
Invest in some good colorstay lipsticks(Maybelline and L’Oreal are expensive, but worth it!). Avoid dark shades if you have thin lips(or you will end up looking mean and cruel!) and stay off those light, glossy shades if you have pouty lips. I feel that matte lipsticks look best because they just color your lips and do not draw too much attention to them as the glossy ones do. Lips should look naturally beautiful and dewy fresh and they should not shine like traffic lights.
4. Blusher(Rosy cheeks)
Nothing looks as attractive and romantic as a dash of color on a lady’s cheeks. Just remember not to overdo it. A rosy pink or a subtle brown shade should just do the trick.
5.Eyes(Express yourself)
A single black kohl line is enough to bring out the best of your eyes. Junk the eye shadow and mascara. I feel those products are for a theatrical effect which never finds a favor with any sensible person.
Of course, these entire makeup routine is for going out some evening but on usual work days, a compact powder and a lip color is just enough.

A valuable tip before I sign out.: Less is more. So girls, go very easy with that greasepaint. Remember it’s your face, not an easel to paint on. You want to look beautiful, not made up. Have confidence in yourself. You are beautiful and don’t let any one else make you think otherwise.
