Ive been a member of Mouthshut for around a year and a half now and have enjoyed the lively experience of it. I first visited India during October 1999 and have been back over 10 time now. Before than I had no connections with the country. I must admit to having no opinions on the place either, but over time I have formed quite a few.
I had discovered Mouthshut while doing research for my company and Id not come across a site like it before and what was more intriguing was the fact that it was a culturally different from back home in the UK. I decided after a few days that Id join this site Id stumbled across and see if I could still write the odd half decent review. To my amazement I was still fairly correct with my grammar and I could spell! Even more amazing people were crazy enough to read my out pourings, rate them and sometimes even comment. Now that was pretty cool. As I also had a fast growing knowledge of India, I could start talking about things that related to the sub-continent like cars, places, hotels and other products. Ive never really talked about things in the UK, my home, because I really dont find them that interesting compared with fresh experiences I have elsewhere.
Ask me about London, which is 30 miles from my doorstep and Ill sayCest quo?. I havent a clue! Im not a fan of London really; to the horror of many Ill say that its over-rated and a pain in the neck to travel around. I prefer my home town! Ask me about Paris, Valencia, Lisbon, Prague, Vienna, Salzburg, Bratislava, Brugge, Lille, Berlin, Madras, Hong Kong and Chonqing and Ill go misty eyed, reeling off locations and experiences.
But back to my main point, I dont think that the competitions, MS-points etc keep us all here. I think its just the joy of writing and reading each others reviews, communicating views and cultivating a circle of friends(I hope I havent created any enemies on the way!).
Well God Bless Mouthshut and all who sail on her!
