20MB restricted video file not enough for MS

Mouthshut encourages us to provide

video review. A review consists of at least three or even more than

three parts. The introduction, the Description of item reviewd and

the Pros and cons. If it is believed to be a good review then it

should also include the conclution. In case of a video review, all

these are necessarily be shown by means of video clippings. But to do

this mouthshut allocates us a maximum space of 20 MB or 6 mintues. I

think the service provider should review on the file size and the

time limit too. 20 MB for a video review encoded in avi video format

is just a few seconds video. To me, it should be a minimum of 25

mins. in length(more than youtubes time restriction of 10mins.) and

the file size should be minimum 2 GB for a quality video review.

It

is believed that a documentary film should be limited to 25 mins. of

time. Longer than that may affect the viewers patience. So, the time

limit should be such that one can make even a documentary and throw

it before the mouthshut critics. One may improve himself in such way.

In case of file size, it must be at least 2GB. Recent days

camcorders, which are mainly divided into three categories can store

videos mainly in avi and mpg format. Firstly the Hard Disc cams,

which stores video in the cameras own memory in .avi format, though

it can encode videos in mpg and other formats too. Secondly the DV

cams, which stores video in a tape in avi format. The third one is

DVD cams which stores the encoded video in a mini DVD in mpg format.

An hour of an avi movie takes 12 to 18 GB space. If you consider for

a quality review then it is the best because it does not uses any

compression. The second popular format is mpg which is compressed

video, but it can produce a good quality video too. An hour of such

video can take 5.5 GB to 7.5 GB space. In case of Dolby Digital,

Surround quality audio, it may increase the limit a bit too. Using

some available free and open source softwares like avidemux etc. one

can easily restrict the file size to 2GB for a DVD quality video. But

trying to compress it more should spoil the quality. Mouthshuts

encouragement for video review is a very good option today as now

faster internet service is also available in India. Uploading a 2GB

video is not at all a problem today. So there is enough

infrastructure available for uploading a Video Review. But everybody

must have to stop thinking as there is not enough space available

with mouthshut for uploading such a review.Even the idea should be

reconsidered in such a way that, one should be able to upload video

files even there is some disconnections from users end during

uploading. The file should be uploaded from the next chunk of data

from where it was stopped.

There might be space problem at the

receiving server end for uploading such video. In that case mouthshut

may consider for uploading the video to youtube like sites and embed

the link in particular topic. But this must be considered for a

temporary solution. Mouthshut itself come forward to solve the

problem.Otherwise not the video review, only some bollywood dance

files would take the place. And it will be the end of a nice idea.
