MEAN PEOPLE SUCK!

*I’m sorry, I put this in this category.  I didn’t know it meant General thoughts’about’ Mouthshut.  I thought it just meant General uncategorized thoughts.

Please Forgive me.*

It is a 30 minute ride for me to go to work everyday.  There is always traffic, I can’t avoid it.  Fortunately, I’ve finally gotten to an age in my life where I’don’t sweat the small stuff’.  What I mean is:  I try not to get upset by things I can’t control.

It’s not easy.

Everyday, on my way to work, I see people in cars cutting off others, beeping and yelling and even making derogatory hand signals.

People are so defensive they don’t know when someone is being kind to them.

The other day I was making a left turn and there was a guy on a bike riding in the traffic lane.  I thought he was cute and I smiled as I drove past him.

He shot a bird at me and yelled the’F’ word.

I made eye contact with a black guy in the convenience store and I smiled at him.  He just looked at me and said’What are you looking at?’  He was acting very defensive.  I said, ’I thought I was smiling back at you, sorry.’  Later at my car I noticed him smiling back.

I smile at friendly faces and I practically talk to everybody.  I don’t condone racism.  I can take criticism.  I’m a decent warm-hearted person.  The only people who give me a hard time are a few strangers who don’t know me.

And no.  I’m not ugly or scary looking.

I know I’m not the only nice person being occasionally abused.  It’s a big world so this must be happening everywhere.

So this is what I’m thinking.

NEW RULES FOR A HAPPIER PLANET

ATTENTION ALL EARTHLINGS(AND VISITORS?)

  1. Think before you act.  There is a lot of love in the world getting wasted on prejudice and impatience.

  2. Remember karma or’the golden rule: Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you.’  (It works)

  3. Smile more.(What comes around, goes around)

  4. Whatever religion you are, believe that you will be judged someday.

  5. Be friendly.

  6. Listen to what people are saying and assume it’s meant in a good way.

7.  Be tolerant.  Don’t judge.

  1. Add your own ideas to this list and practice them.

  2. Spread the word.

Follow these’rules’  or be sentenced to a life of misery.

Do you think this is possible or am I just dreaming?
