My purpose in writing this review is to share my views on some of the thing that are missing on this site. That is, I will be dealing with what are, in my opinion, the few negative points of MS that ought to be improved upon. Certain points which have nagged me ever since I started being part of this community. It has only been a month and a half since I joined MS.
Though only two reviews old, I have read, rated and commented on quite a number of the reviews on this site and hence I feel very much a part of the MS Community. Most of the other reviews about MS in general mention many of its good points, hence I will not deal with them. However, please do not think that simply because I have only mentioned improvements, I do not like this site. Indeed, this is a great site, as many reviews before mine about MS in General have pointed out.
I just do not wish to repeat those positive points. Also, since I am relatively new, I may have be mistaken about the things which I say are lacking. Hence, please let me know if any of my point below are due to my mistaken beliefs. What I really hope to achieve by writing this review is to know the views of other MSians. If many of you agree with what I have to say, then we should forward my suggestions to the Admin and hope that they do whatever possible.
**Un-Trust** *Please ignore this point as it has already been solved*
The first problem I have is, that there is no way (that I know of) to un-trust somebody. Suppose I added someone to my Trusted Circle simply by reading one review. And after reading subsequent reviews, I feel that perhaps I was to quite to trust him (or her). Now, there is no way to ’un-trust’ that person. I have to ’distrust’ him which is not what I want to do at all. It is not to say that I distrust him or his reviews, but maybe I simply want to cut down on the people who are in my Trusted Circle. Once, I even clicked on ’Trust this member’ accidentally, before reading a single review of his. My mouse was stuck and I kept clicking it and suddenly I realised I had ’trusted’ that person. Since there was no way to ’un-trust’ that member, and I did not want to ’distrust’ him, (it just connotes such a negative meaning) I could do nothing. So if anyone out there knows a way to ’un-trust’ a person please let me know. And if there is no such way, then dont you all think that this feature should be included in MS?
**Comment Alert**
Secondly, there is the feature of ’Alert me when a new comment on this review appears’. Now, generally (at least for me it is true) people want this feature to be turned on because they wish to know when the writer of the review replies to their comments. It is not usually the case the people want to read the comments written by others on that review. Hence, I think it would be more useful if we actually had a ’alert me when the writer comments on this review’ so that we do not have to get alerts everytime someone comments on a hugely popular review.
Alternatively, in the profile page of each member, we could have a section showing us the reviews which they have commented to. This way, every time I come to MS, I can look up at the reviews I have commented to and see if there is any reply. Of course, I realise this is a tedious alternative, but at least better than not having this feature at all. Sometimes, I comment on a review and forget to set the alert or save the page and I forget which review it was that I commented to. It is an almost impossible process to find out which review it was. I do realise however, that this alternative will not be very good for more active members who have thousand over comments.
Now you guys must probably be wondering why I am churning out all this stupid ideas. Well, one thing is, as I have already mentioned, I often dont remember which review I commented in and if I set the alert, I keep getting many alerts everyday when other people comment on that same review. Also when responding to comments on reviews written by me, I am never sure whether to simply leave them as a comment or whether to individually M2M every member. I realise not everyone may like getting replies to their comments by M2M especially if they leave many comments everyday. But also on the other hand, I realise not many people check back in to the same review to see if there has been a reply. What do you guys generally do?
Thirdly..Thirdly...well there was a third point which I wanted to make. I definitely had three points when I first started writing this review. But because I took ages to write thus far, the third point has popped out of my head. This is what I get for not planning my essay properly and not writing out my points first, as my English teacher always told me to. Well, you guys can rest assured that if that third point ever floats back into my mind, I shall write a similar review on it. (depends on the response to this review though). I hope in your comments you guys will mention whether you support the suggestions I have or whether you have any better ideas. Then we can put this suggestions to the Admin and see what they can do about making MS a better site.

After a good night’s sleep, the third point finally popped back into my mind. And I think most of you will agree with me on this one. And that is, that we are not alerted when someone adds us to their trusted list. Now is this true or am I mistaken and is there a way to know this? Till now, I keep checking back into my profile page and I have to recall my previous list and find out whether there has been an addition. For old timers with several people on the trusted by and trusts list, it is impossible to keep track, isnt it? I dont know about you guys, but I feel better receiving an alert everytime someone add’s me to their trust list.
Hmm..let me just explore as many of the features of MS first before posting this addition. If I missed even this one, then I’ll look like a dunce.... Alright, yup, I have tried my best to find such a feature and didnt find one. So others, please enlighten me. Thanks for bothering to read my review again! :)
