Probably stray dogs also wander around behind a particular dog, that does not make that dog a leader. Clearly leadership is no longer just leading from the front with a vision, its about the reflected results that your leadership strengths end up achieving.
Things in past have taught us a distinction between leaders and executioners of power, You dwell with the power you have got via an authoratative position so you think you are an leader. Thats where the disitinction begins, Leadership influences, convinces, motivates, acts, mannerizes, channelizes and humanizes the whole way of doing things.
Clearly a heirarchy as you might have seen in management books has been evolved, Management is polarising to an executive function where as leadership is getting up on the heirarchy. The era of talking bygone leaders, now wait a minute. Are we talking in Chruchills, Lincolns, Gandhis and Nehrus, If given a chance about saying something on leadership, you end up saying these names them I beg to correct you that you have been influenced, Just go through my above lines leadership is a complete block movement which happens if everything gels well together, Conceptually talking or reading on leadership is the most paradoxical thing to do but one comes across it time and again in our daily lives and we just feel and praise the same rather than reading between the lines.
##A politician influences because he/she wants you to be in his favor.
##An Industrialist Urges because he/she can't help without it because his money and business is at stake.
##A Team Leader(be it any) motivates and shouts, thats the best he can do.
The point I am trying to make from here is Leadership is comprehensive then the e.g. cited above.
How many Management and Leadership books have you read, can you still be sure what a leader is, Since there is no answer to suspicion so is no answer to the best leader? So avoid anything called a complete leader, Its 21st Century going almost half the decade is over so Leadership is about to come of age and there is some instinctive qualities that a leader most posses, for me the new age leadership is about inducting Knowledge, Technology, Innovation, Persistence & Learning, See 2 of those terms are age old but I think they are required.
Let me take a few examples from nature, it has always had it for us good or bad, its upto to us to comprehend from it.
1) Knowledge: *Nothing goes waste and knowledge is a treasure, Take African Elephants, in the time of severe drought they are always together in a group, The Elephant leader takes her whole group to the remote water resource which she knows about, this comes from the past knowledge that she got from her mother way back some 80 years from now, See just a mere know how makes her a leader.
2) Technology & Innovation: Technology is evolving and new leadership evolves with it, Innovation comes, stays and changes the world around, so they cannot be ignored, Have youheard about an Otter, it naturally innovated the way of fishing, it makes a dam of sort into a river and inturn stopping fishes in the pool of water, helping himself for an easy catch.
3)Persistence & Learning: We call ourselves the most gifted beings, but we don't actually justify being that, Leadership has to help persisting, Cybarian Cranes are one of the kind of migratory birds that persistingly fly for non-stop migrating from one place to other, Learning is acquired and never taught, like a phone is used for communicating and not expressing(against the common feel), so acquirance of these factors is a must for the new age leadership.
Eventually we end up where, Leaders evolve, they are not born nor made, They have to have a composite of everything, Noone is gifted with everything so there are something that have to be added with few things that inturn make manythings but not everything, So a new age leader has to evolve with the features I have talked about.
