The winner of a free world tour has had his wings clipped. As CNBC-TV18 reports Bajaj Auto is in the midst of the controversy.
Duloram of Ludhiana was elated when he won a world tour package in a promotional offer run by Bajaj Auto Ltd. He bought a motorcycle and won the lucky draw in July last year.
Within weeks, Duloram even attended a press conference organized by the company. Meanwhile, Duloram also took a loan from a bank and an insurance package for his dream trip. "I took some loan from the bank and also sold my wife’s jewellery to fulfill their demands, " said Duloram.
But after waiting for several months, his dream came crashing when he received a letter from the company. The letter said he was going to China and not for a world tour.
"After five months, I received a letter from Pune. It said I have to go to China instead of the world tour. I told them that I didn’t want to go to China because their contract said world tour, " he said.
An angry Duloram has now filed an FIR against the company and its dealer in Ludhiana. Bajaj Auto says issuance of a visa is hardly in its hands. And duloram and other winners did not get the visa for France and Canada, and were therefore offered a trip to China.
In fact, this is clearly mentioned in the terms and conditions of the scheme. So the next time, you win a promotional offer, do make sure you read the fine print before packing your bags.
