I had never thought obtaining a domestic gas connection is next impossible. recently I wanted to obtain a gas connection. So I approached an agent of the PSU LPG company. He told me unless u have a ration card you wont get a gas connection. Alternatively you obtain a acknowledgment that u have applied for a ration card you will get a connection. So I went to apply for a ration card. The authorities want a certificate that my name is excluded in the ration card in my home town or the place I stayed earlier before moving to this place & have no gas connection there.
I have gone there for work & I do not have time or people to render this service for me. I am producing a certificate from my employer and a copy of my rent agreement. Where is the need for ration c ard. Even if I have a domestic gas connection in my hometown or the place where I resided earlier, in what does it prevent from getting a domestic gas connection. Why cannot they verify my genuineness when I am producing my employment certificate. Futher, I am suggested take a commercial gas cylinder which costs 3 times a domestic refill. Smaller cities/towns do not boast of private gas connection, which again .
Commercial gas in meant for establishments like hotels or hostels and not for domestic use. Even if the citizen complies with the requirement that his/her need is genuine, our authorities are not willing to help thereby encouraging them to go for unlawful or clandestine connections.
