>My advice for safe driving.
Always remember this when you are driving:*
You are responsible for taking care of all those people on the street you are driving and the passengers who are sitting in your car and yourself. If you build up this sense, you will automatically become the best driver. You will enjoy driving and your car too will be always in good condition.
*Follow traffic rules and sign boards:
*If you follow all the traffic rules and sign boards, you will really find that they contribute to a comfortable and safety drive. For example, remain within the speed limit, stop or slow down wherever the stop signs post are there irrespective of whether others are stopping or not Please, follow all the rules. Trust me.
Maintain a constant & moderate speed.
Even if the road is completely empty, do not go beyond 50 kph. Maintain constant speed 40 to 50 kph. This way, even if some animal or human comes all of a sudden infront of you, you can easily slow down and halt.
Follow thelane marks:
Drive your car in a particular lane. Change lanes only when it is needed and is SAFE. Otherwise, an approaching vehicle from side will hit you!
*Check the driving symptoms of other drivers:
For tail-gater**s: Almost all drivers following you from behind have the tendency to overtake you from any side(right or left). Understand their symptoms through your rear-view mirror. Accordingly, take steps.
For example, if the other vehicle tries to overtake you from right,
a) check if there is enough space ahead of you
b) check if there is no - one(mostly 2-wheelers) trying to approach from your left side
If both steps a & b are passed, slow down a littlle, take slightly to the left, and let the other vehicle overtake you.
For vehicles infront of you: Maintain a safe distance(say, twice the length of your car). Keep a vigil look at the front vehicles tail lamps. Whenver he brakes, they will glow and you can also slow down
Dont accelerate too much:
If you do so, the vehicles behind you will do the same and if they are not careful drivers(most of them), they will come too close and may hit you(especially if you slow down).
Do not blow horn unnecessarily:
If you are habituated to blowing horns frequently, please correct yourself. Blowing horns may make the front drivers/pedestrians/2-wheelers nervous or irritated. If the successor is a new learner, he may jump his car/2-wheeler to a high acceleration and hit someone/injure himself. I never use horn. Hardly 2 - 3 times a single day. Believe me. After all, if it is a traffic signal or a crowded street or a slow moving traffic, the front vehicle cant make out any way. Understand this.
*Beware of the 2-wheelers:
*99% 2-wheelers are racing champions. They will always overtake you all of a sudden even if there is very less space ahead of you. Morever, they will be slightly to the left /right of your car. Because these positions come under the drivers blindspots you will never notice them. So, be careful while manoevering even slightly to the left/right.
Have patience for the pedestrians:
If a pedestrian is in the middle of the road and wants to cross, give him the way. Please.
*Service your car regularly:
Get monthly **inspections of your car at some service centres. Always see that the brake fluid is to the mark(if no fluid, brake failure will occur) and there is sufficient coolant for the radiator
*Tips for smooth driving of your car and good mileage:
Gear shifts:*
0 - 10 kph: 1st gear
10 - 20 kph: 2nd
20 - 30 kph: 3rd
30 - approaching 40: 4th
40 & above: 5th(or 4th if yours is a 4 - gear transmission)
*Do not race the engine(accelerate) while changing gears. This may burn the clutch-plate and reduce your engines life.
Maintain average speed of 45 to 55 kph(be as constant as possible)
*Avoid using brakes always. Shift to a lower gear. Apply brakes gently.
Happy & Safe Driving.
