Sundirect not to the mark

This is to inform the general public about the service and the quality of the Sun Direct(DTH).


Please note that I am not comparing Sun Direct with any other DTH services as I am not using any of them. Since I am using Sun Direct, I could write about Sun Direct only.


I shifted to a new house and instead of going for regular cable connection I thought I will go for DTH service. The advantage was one time payment for the connection and the installation. And I need not bother for 1 year to pay the monthly rentals.


After one year if I have to pay the monthly fees I had to pay like we pay for the pre-paid mobile currencies.


I was quite happy with all the facilities but the service was not at all good.


I didnt know any body related to the Sun Direct and I went to one of the shops which showed Sun Direct ad in front of the shop. The guy there in the shop did not bother to talk to me or know my needs. Instead he gave me the brochure and was in no mood to talk to me. I could not help but came out of the shop with the brochure and called the customer care.


The customer care guys gave me the contact number of the distributor and the distributor inturn gave me the contact number of a rep/marketing guy. I called that guy and enquired about the duration for the installation.


The rep said that if I pay 2000 rupees(1 yr free subcription) on the first day, the technical guys will come and install the dish/antenna within 2 working days and it will be activated on the same day.


And so I paid Rs. 2000 to him and got the scratch card. The rep left and I couldn’t hear any thing from them for 3 days. I called the distributor and enquired about the connection and to my surprise they were asking for the registration number which the rep did not provide to me.


I had to call the rep and get the registration number and I provided the same to the distributors and also to the customer care guys who are sitting in chennai. They said the installation will be done in another 2 days.


Finally the installation happened after 7 working days. They gave me one reason that there was no stock of dish/box. After the installation I had to wait for 2 working days to get the channels activated and the reason they told was server down.


Guys, before opting for Sundirect, please enquire about the other services and take a wise decisions.


Next time, I will update above the channels they are providing free of cost.
