Media has been an important part of our lives in these mordern days. But the question is how genuine and how true is the media in bringing things to light. In todays competitive world, various media channels are outdoing one another to stay in limelight and hence have become very manipulative and irresponsible.
Oflate I have read in a local newspaper that some religious group has threatened Tennis player Sania Mirza and these so called religious heads have decided onto a dress-code for her! What rubbish?! In the first place, who are these people to talk about Sanias dress code?(I personally feel she dresses up quite modestly in comparison to other International Tennis players) Secondly when they are that concerned about womens dignity, then why do we hear news about fatwa and other abuses women are subjected to in their house-holds? These silly groups should first look into serious issues, instead of looking at young girls skirts & tops. Sania has come to this level through a lot of struggle & efforts. She made all Hyderabadis(and Indians) proud. Instead of appreciating her & encouraging her, these people come up with weird threats.
What is more irritating is the medias role and their irresponsible acts, than this uneducated & uncivilised groups delirium reactions. A day prior to the match at Kolkata, thisthreatening news was published. And the next day after the match there was a picture of Sania in the newspaper. The photographer might have tried from all angles to capture her only from the wrong angle. When there are so many pictures of hers readily available any where, why should the newspaper publish the picture where the poor girl is struggling to cover her stomach? For Heavens sake, please let her concentrate on the game and not on her clothes. Afterall you cant expect anyone to play Tennis in a Burkha!
The media is only interested in generating hype to boost their sales; but why at the stake of a young players career. If you cant help her or protect her from the eyes of such religious groups; atleast dont exaggerate, manipulate & project things in the wrong way.
