Well well, what do you know?This is my first ’Mills & Boons’ book review, so again please do be patient with me.But if there’s any mistake, please do feel free to point it out.I just want to make one thing clear before moving on-I know many men out there might poke fun at these books.But these are more like fantasy romance novels & I admit, I’m a hopeless romantic at heart.I read these as a hobby, not for erotica.As for the lovemaking scenes in the books, I think it’s about time we all get a little mature about this.It’s more like watching romance movies in which such scenes are no laughing matter.I personally used to know a male ex-friend of mine who used to read these novels just for the sex scene descriptions & if you’re only ineterested in these books for the same reason, then my review isn’t meant for entertaining you.
’Darcy Emma-The Last Grand Passion’ was a PDF file & unfortunately the author’s name was cut out(that’s wht reading an actual book is so much better).It’s a very basic boy loved girl, didn’t want to commit, boy left girl & after several years comes back to claim her, but still didn’t commit.Except here, the girl lives in Australia & the guy’s from Ireland(Irish men are known to be very handsome gentlemen).Anne Tolliver’s sister is getting married.Being the eldest in the family, she’s tired of her mother pestering her to find a man & get settled.Unfortunately, Anne’s never told anyone in her family that her heart’s been broken once by a man she had deeply loved & doesn’t want to go through the saga of tragedy again.She manages to keep herself busy with her stage work.As if magic she gets a call, a call that would change her life for ever.Thady Riordan, renowned stage playwrite, also her ex-lover wants to meet her as he’s impressed by her recent production design for his play.But both of them that’s only an excuse to get to see how’s she’s been doing these many years without him.From here to the resurrection of their relationship, we are not informed much about Thady & his strange behaviour & we tend to feel that he’s simply a good looking, green-eyed bloke who’s using Anne solely for his fun.Towards the end we come to learn as to why Thady’s always closed up & everything finally fits into place.
As ususal, the plot is very much predictable, but Thady’s dark character is a mystery & not even avid followers of Mills & Boons can figure it out until the end.One problem I had with this particular novel was that it showed Anne as being very needy to get Thady’s love.All the Mills & Boons series I’ve read till now have had strong women as their heroines.Here, Anne in the bid to get back in track after Thady’s left her decides to have his baby.Now many might not agree with me, but I believe having a baby will never compensate for a soulmate.Plus, a baby must always be had for good reasons, not for silly things such as a lover leaving you or for not paying you enough attention.I felt Anne’s character was very poor in the terms that she didn’t have the qualities of ambition or courage that I find attractive in every genuine woman.
Final grade- C+;Quite ok, was not as interesting as the other books from the Mills & Boons series.
