On Tuesday i.e. 21 feb, 2017 the Supreme Court(SC) has ruled that flat owners could form a forum or group and approach National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission(NCDRC) against realtors over delayed projects. Earlier an owner could only file a plea if the cost is > 1 crore and joint pleas were not allowed. Now the SC has ruled that joint pleas are allowed and therefore owners can form a group an appeal against delayed project. This is a boon for middle-class home buyers who were earlier not able to fight this menace. The ruling was against Amrapali Sapphire Developer’s by judges Justice Dipak mishra, A M Khanwilkar and M M Shantanagoudar.
