Here's my

Opinion on this topic:

After reading all the opinions a few of them like Venu’s experience on a friend riding Two wheeler, bharani_286’s Corsa tumbling, dothot 30 years of non accident experience and traffic rules, kliks night riding tips are still in my memory.

Although I may be new to riding, with 5 years experience, I firmly believe that my blood, nerves carries these senses since my childhood(from 2 years). I met with 4-5 minor accidents with Max100 and Rx100, fortunately all were when I was riding less than 40 KMPH. I’ve shot upto 130 KMPH! in old Mahabs & Airport road of Chennai but nothing had happened even in the clumsier city riding touched nothing less than 80 and have covered 15 KMS in 12 minutes during peak traffic hours in Chennai. After all these experiences, I’ve noticed the following:

  • If you notice the way the traffic goes between City & Suburbans, it is like this: first 1/2 heavy vehicles, then 3-4 auto, then a couple of cars with scattered 2 wheelers here & there. What happens is that all the two wheelers try to overtake and only 1/2 will succeed, rest of them will follow the traffic. So if you notice the traffic is clustered.

  • Even by a chance no one obey the rule. In the signals, one who obeys the traffic rule is looked down and compelled by other people to go forward even before the green light glows. Also it gives pride and has become the de facto fashion for one to tell that he never obeys law. I believe this is the main factor for the accidents to increase.

  • Next factor is less knowledge on vehicles. I agree that one who buys a Lancer needs to know how to operate rather than how does it operate. But if one knows how this works, he will know the limits of his vehicle, which will enable him to drive within the limit of his driving geography, which will eventually have a good control.

To give an example of the above, I’ve a Rx100, which can top upto 110(after which I haven’t tested) and it can outbeat CBZ in pickup. I ride this bike so carefully that it gives me an average if 39 KMPL in city riding condition.

I come from the city.Chennai.where you find all the vehicles in a rusty, dirty and highly improperly maintainted with highly indisciplined driving/riding and disobedient to traffic law. After 5 years of careful observation I found the above things to be true.

Accidents do happen in life, but if we prove to be careless, then accidents do happen more freuqently, and it’s like to welcome the disasters. One needs to be alert at all times, what I believe in riding is that, you have to be alert not only for yourself, but also alert for others to notice the warnings.
