I booked Bagdogra-Bhopal on Cleartrip (trip ID 1302270664), and got Bagdogra-Delhi / Delhi-Bhopal tickets for three PAX at INR 18762.
First Airlines rescheduled Delhi-Bhopal flight from 5:55 hrs to 1400 hrs. Since this was not convenient, I contacted Cleartrip for a refund. This was more that two days in advance of day of journey. Cleartrip asked me to contact the airline for the cancellation, they will not, and yet charge me service charge in addition to cancellation fees. Airline did tell me that I will have a refund of about 2000 per pax, which I called back and communicated to cleartrip folks.
We travelled Bagdogra-Delhi leg of the journey, and was expecting a refund on Delhi-Bhopal leg which I had cancelled, (and took an overnight train instead)
Days later, on 7th April Cleartrip writes me "Since its via partially utilized cancellation the major fare is used for the sector traveled IXB - DEL ie bf 1820+yq2800+wo233+airline charges 999+ct charges 300 hence zero refund will be process from our end. In case of any doubt you can send us the duly stamp endorsement of airline stating the refund bifurcation within 12 working days or else zero refund will be process as per the mentioned break up from our end."
This was preposterous. First I had to make a cancellation for a rescheduled trip. Second now cleartrip wants me to contact the airline to collect endorsement to find out how much refund they had to make. If I did not, they will "give" me "zero" refund.
I argued with Cleartrip - they are my travel agents, so they should get these things done, and they should know how much refund is due to me. They do not seem to budge....
LESSON - CLEARTRIP will call you several times if you have problem making a booking...but will not in case there is a refund problem.
A BAD TRAVEL AGENT - will make you do all the hard work and happily collect service charges.
I am left to broadcast my case online....so that cleartrip refunds department gets me a "non-zero" proper refund...and sorts out the issue with airline...rather than leaving me to run around for refund.
This will be my last deal with clear trip, after being a customer for years....eventually loss will be of clear trip.
