Anyways, you will all agree that with the upcoming trend of shopping mall, we all incline to go in a cool AC atmosphere and shop rather then going to shops at the markets. But at the same time, one must be very careful to buy clothes, esp. ladies. Why?
Some people are and may be looking into you private lives without being caught and we don’t know. I am talking about try rooms in the shopping malls and even mirrors in hotels. There is a big threat to us in case the mirrors used are two way mirrors.
I have to explain how it works. Instead on conventional one way mirror, there may be planted a two way mirror, i.e. from one side it will appear as a mirror, and from other side like a dark see thru glass. Remember interrogation room used in the movies.
Now we know the problem, what shall we do about it? I will explain.
The conventional mirror is an ordinary glass on which silver coating is done on the back and then a dark paint is applied. Therefore when we look into the mirror, the image is produced on back of the glass (where silver paint is done). However in case of a two way mirror, the silver paint is done on the surface. Therefore the image is produced on the surface and not on back of the glass.
It seems like scientific crap of which I am not professionally trained. So if you are getting bored, I will tell you the solution distinguish both the mirrors (and to change the clothes with peace of mind)
*The Solution
*Place a pointed object at the surface of the glass, say a key or nail. The object, lets say key should touch the mirror. Now look at the image from the side. If you find a gap between edge of the key and the image, you are looking at a conventional one way mirror. This is because the paint is on back of the glass.
Similarly if you see that the image is made at the surface, i.e. no gap between key and the image from side view, you are looking at a two way cheating mirror. Now you can abuse the manager or call the police or make noise or simply leave, its upto you. But at least you are at piece of mind.
