Shopping With A Little One!!

Now, I am a woman and I do love to shop.  One thing that has made it hard is having a baby.  She has just started walking but, is still to young to walk on her own without getting into major trouble(not to mention stolen, etc.).  Well, I have devised a few helpful tips for moms.

First, don’t fool yourself that you will be home for lunch.  Also, unless you plan on loading a cooler with food, plan on eating somewhere at the mall.  If you know what time your little one eats lunch, plan on getting to the spot you’ll be eating at about a half an hour early.  Note:  Most malls are crowded for lunch reguardless of it being a weekday or not.

Pack a diversion.  If your toddler loves toys bring toys.  If it’s the mall fountains make sure to stop for a rest near them often.  If you have a squirmy or active child think about investing in a leash.  I know they look crude but, it’s the safest way to let a little one out to walk so him/her aren’t taken, don’t get lost, and don’t get hurt.  Usually a few minutes of walking will be fine and then into the stroller for another 15 or 20.

Strollers!  If you don’t bring your own plan on having identification so you can’rent’ one.  Most malls have this option for free.  Make sure though, that you pack light because most have only small baskets.

Prioritize!  This is a must!  If you need to get something specific done(ex. Shoes for so and so’s wedding) make sure you plan on getting these things done first.  Put off anything that isn’t important especially if it gets late or your little one gets cranky.

For parents of babies that refuse to sleep while out or refuse to sleep in a stroller, plan mall trips after a nap.  Invest in a backpack or front carrier.
