Indiatimes Hosting - BeWare!!!

I wish to share the nightmarish experience I faced while working with my friend. Impressed by the jazzy ads on economictimes, we thought of signing up with indiatimes hosting that gives Tomcat and MySQL support which was one of the primary requirements of our projects. Sorry to say that they had been very bad in providing the services.

First of all, if you need any support, you will have to call up to Hyderabad. They do not have any local/toll-free number to help you. Next, they do not work more than so called 8-8. So if you need any support on a non-working day or before and after 8, you are in trouble. Also if you call them at around 8, they are busy packing the bags and give you a response saying they will look into it the next day. Now, here is what our real problem was. We developed a WAR file (J2EE guys might know what it is, simply putting its a java web application) and wanted to deploy it on indiatimes server.

To our surprise, you cannot deploy any war file without creating a support ticket. That ticket may or may not be acted upon forget being acted upon in time. Now, if there is any problem with the war file and you want to redeploy it, again raise a ticket. You cannot connect to their mysql directly. They do not provide any IP address. So, if your application has 23 tables, you need to use phpmyadmin to create them all. Ha ha!!! Anyway, there is much more to say but in short, if you are creating a website for your kid learning web designing, its no good.
