Pondicherry, simply one of the best places I have visited so far. The two Hrs drive along the sea side from chennai to pondicherry is really good.
Pondicherry practically can be covered by foot, 2 days is more than enough to see what the city has to offer. An oval town, with french villa’s as well as chettinad houses, one can see the satrk difference b/w the two parts of the city.
Places to see: Although evry single building in the french side of the town is a masterpiece, few important places are, Rajbhavan, Pondicherry mueseum, Auro Ashram and La dupliex.
Churches: The Sacred heart church is a gothic marvel and a must see
Places to eat: La terrace, a small shop owned and run by a portugese lady and her son is famous for its wooden oven pizza’a which is a must try . Rondevous is amazing for steak’s, Ajantha: Cheap Daru, La Dupliex and Pomenade are two Hidesign hotels which serve food in 5 star style .
Hotbread: Crossiants are a must try .
Shoppin: Factory outlet of Hidesign on JN street offers you good hidesign stuff. Candles, agarbatti’s and Handmade paper are few more items one can search for. There are lot of boutiques on the Beach road, where one can buy the following stuff from.
Disadvantage: only disadvantage is the weather, specially in the summer’s heat is just unbearable.
