I seem to be Umbilically attached to my canine and am constantly looking for areas that he can accompany hubby and me to. We keep driving around Bangalore looking for ideal piknik spots and found one such area around Varthur. Infact, if you are going towards varthur from whitefield, there are several spots that you could just park your car by and spread out a sheet. Its easy to identify them as they are usually large areas populated with Eucalyptus trees(Though some are agricultural areas) The first round though had us all cautious since we didnt know if these areas actually belonged to someone, but seeing the beer cans and food wrappers(People need to be sued!) it looked like many others chill out around this area on Sat-Sun eves. The area that we parked ourself on was about five kilometers from the market and had a clearing amidst the trees. The aroma of the oils(Eucalyptus) are so relaxing along with bird/crickets chirps. When we decided to walk a li’l more into the area, we chanced upon this lake/pond/water body which was about 1/4 km from the main rd. The water was slushy and we couldnt get in.but the doggies did the water-buffalo act and finally had to be coaxed out of the water.
If making such a trip it would be good to carry a lot of drinking water, food and some old bedsheet that you can spread on the ground. An important item would also be a garbage bag that can be used for anything that we get tempted to get rid of.
A word of caution would be on the safety of these areas as they are pretty far from the city and not many people around. My dog looks like the Grimm so we rarely have issues.but I would recommend numbers of 4 and above when doing these pikniks.(So I guess a valentine piknik at the place is a no-no:) I have included a picture of the picnic spot too. Bangalore does have a lot of GREEN that we can sink our senses into!
