I have many web pages on the Internet and I know very little html so I use the quick and easy ones to set up. My favorite it Talk City.
Geocities I find has very little to pick from as far as backgrounds and designs goes and do not find the pages look professional when done.
I have started a couple there and each time I went to change something I didn’t like I would lose the whole thing and have to start all over again.
I don’t care for the lay outs they have to use and just find it a site that I do not care to deal with anymore.
If you want a nice looking web page try Talk City, uploading is easy, adding music is easy and there are many designs to pick from and things can be changed very easily.
Another one you might want to try is Homestead where you can just drag and drop what you want on the page.
In my opinion anything but Geocities is better.
