Ghajini is a remake of tamil movie by the same name. Well, the tamil movie had a superhit music from Harris Jeyaraj and was directed by the same director muragadoss who does the hindi version. The remarkable changes in the hindi version are Amir khan as the lead actor and music by musical wizard, AR Rahman. Well, the expectation level were very much high considering the best music being brought out in amirkhan movies whenever they are associated with AR Rahman(for example, lagaan, RDB).
This movie is an allout commercial venture and the music was made according to the movie. Rahman has given an entirely different composition this time that should not have any resemblance to the tamil original. Ghajini soundtrack has 5 songs and one instrumental and lyrics were written by Prashoon Joshi, who earlier associated with ARR in the movie Rang De Basanti.
Guzarish (Javed Ali, Guest Vocals: Sonu Nigam)
An amazing opening hum from Sonu Nigam starts up the song and the vocal part is taken care by Javed ali. The song starts off well with feel good rhythm and beats and the best stops there. Song goes up to the ecstatic level and it falls flat in the middle. There is not much of freshness in the tune and same loop is followed throughout the song and it gives already heard so feel. The best is the humming given by sonu nigam at start and in the end of the song and melody being strong. Maybe sonu nigam should have sung this song instead of javed ali is my humble opinion.

Aye Bachoo (Suzanne):
A dance number sung by suzanne. This song starts off with an impressive note and then it goes haywire. Rhythmic beats pep up the song but doesnt lift it up to the maximum tilt. The tempo mars in the middle and its not consistent. Brilliant bass guitar work is used allover the song to bring out the rock genre.

Behka (Karthik)
A beautiful song splendidly sung by Karthik who does a cakewalk of the complicated lyrics and crooned one of his best. ARR has given a jazz feel to this song with a chorus that goes well with drum beats. One of the best song in this album that awaits a nice picturisation to lift up this song to next level.

Kaise Mujhe(Benny Dayal & Shreya Ghoshal):
A pathos song, a unique track of this album marking the stamp of the great ARRahman. A fabulous composition that flows slowly and steadily into your mind and will immerse you into the sea of music. The rhythm of the song will sound like a slow moving train and you will feel like going through a musical journey. This level of a song should have been given to a well experienced singer like hariharan, sonu nigam or shankar mahadevan. Nevertheless Benny has did his job but you feel he trying hard to reach the high pitch.

Latoo (Shreya Ghoshal):
A fast dance number that has regional flavour fusion with western style of hiphop. There is not much of variety in this song which is again sounds like a dejavu. The only experimentation is using shreya ghosal in this fast number. She has done a good job showing her versatile singing.

Kaise mujhe - Instrumental (Guitars: Neil Mukherjee, Flutes: Kiran) :
If you like the actual song, you will love this instrumental too. While traveling or on a road trip, just listen to this instrumental and you will be mesmerized. This is the overall proof showing the brilliance of arr and it gives the sample of how good will be the background score in this movie compared to the Tamil original which had just chaos sound has background score.
Rating 5/5
Obviously, the comparisons are inevitable as the tamil original had one of the best music atleast for songs by Harris J. But nothing can beat up this soundtrack which stands soulful n unique comparatively. Though its not the best work by arrahman, it still fulfills the commercial quotient of this movie. A good album which will go popular as per the result of the movie.
