"Ghalib in New Delhi" is a sincere attempt by Dr. M.Sayeed Alam to keep the spectators excited, engrossed and rib-tickled through the entire period the play runs. The spectators were all glued to the seat (not wanting to leave and miss any), but only just so, as the comic display tried its best to unseat them (roll off laughing). The cast has done justice to the characters they play, with special mention to Mr. Digambar Prasad (Lead role-Ghalib) and Mr. Gupta (Role-Drunkard). Mr. Chabra as a sweet, innocent, and a typical Bihari boy revels in his portrayal of the boy from Chapra. All in all a very well spent evening, well worth the money and effort spent. The socio-political satire was well spelled and ideally puntuated to have the desired effect of impressing smiles and chuckles.
Only moment of discomfort was the realisation that the average person, who goes to see these plays, has no respect for the art, the artists and the spectators, when they forget to switch off their mobile phones and keep going in and out of the audi, thus disrupting the flow of the event. These distractions should be avoided at all costs.
