Generally all people have a tendency to buy their stuff from the grey market. Here in Bombay we have a market called the Musafirkhana or the Crawford market where products such as the Gillette Shaving Gels are sold for damn cheap. The ones that are sold in retail stores retail are for example priced at Rs.175/- but the ones sold at Crawford market are sold for Rs.120/-.
The cans look original and the seals are in tact. It could even fool the Gillette Company. To be honest I have been making purchases for years from the Crawford Market and Musafirkhana. However recently a wave of counterfeit products have hit the market and I do not know how these chaps do it but the cans look ditto original. Even the hologram is present on the can.
I suppose it would make sense to buy the products that are sold in retail stores which bear the price tag and say that the can was imported into India. I know of many retail stores which sell the Gillette products imported and sold in India and side by side they sell the fake cans too.
The gel in the fake cans does not foam and one can easily make out the difference from an original gel and a fake gel. WATCH OUT PEOPLE! There are many fake ones out there. Don’t get fooled like me. The cans may be cheap but are they really worth your skin?
